About Little Characters Pet Sitting and Dog Walking

About Little Characters Pet Sitting and Dog Walking

Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To be with a dog on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring--it was peace.

Founder and Scheduling Coordinator: Mike Hemphill

Founder and Scheduling Coordinator Mike Hemphill

I became involved in this career because of my empathy for animals of all kinds. I figured that if I could help pet owners with their pets by providing first class in-home pet care for their pets (vacation sitting and dog walking), I could also help other animals by committing a portion of my company's earnings to well organized, animal welfare activist organizations.

Animal welfare groups that Little Characters seeks to help include the ASPCA, American Humane, Humane Farming, the Animal Rescue Site and PETA. Every day these organizations go to bat to address a myriad of animal cruelty issues using donations, petitions from active membership and their political clout to apply relentless pressure on all branches of our government with the goal of bringing about positive change for animal welfare.

I am also a member of the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters and have passed a certification course to become a Certified Professional Pet Professional that has an emphasis on First Aid. I am also a graduate of Drexel University. I look forward to hearing from you!

Pet Sitter Marybeth

Mary Beth is a graduate of the BSN program at Neumann University.   A nurse for 17 years with a focus on the elderly,  she has a great passion caring for others including animals. She has had various pets of all while growing up; everything including kittens, birds, dogs and guinea pigs.  She has rescued many wounded birds including a squirrel who had been hit by a car. Mary Beth says, "I have great passion caring for the elderly but after 17 years was looking for something a little different.  Working for Little Characters has given me that perfect opportunity!" Working full time and the mother of 3 young children, she enjoys spending her down time in the evenings and weekends with her children and pets.  She says, "I despise all the cruelty meted out to so many defenseless creatures.. one of my most important values to teach my children is kindness, compassion and respect for all creatures."
